Area of Responsibility

• I-10 Redrock TI. to Cienega Creek (Milepost 226 to 288.7) 

Unique Features of Section

• This is the only Maintenance Section whose responsibilities are only interstate Highway in the Tucson District
• They are responsible for the maintenance of I-10 through Tucson and its high traffic volume (135,000 vehicles a day).  Most of the activities that require a lane closure are scheduled at night time so as not to impede the day time traffic.
• This Maintenance Section also administers a Mechanical Litter Contract that picks up debris that falls from vehicles and tire rubber from the Urban area of I-10, (Cortaro Road to Alvernon Road, I-19 from San Xavier Road to Junction of I-10 and SR 210).
• In addition to the Mechanical Litter Contract this Maintenance Group has one full time employee picking up debris in the outlying area’s of I-10.  Most of the debris consists of tire rubber from trucks.
