Adopt a Highway Permits

The Adopt a Highway Volunteer Program allows individuals, groups, and businesses to remove litter on highways throughout the state.  The Arizona Department of Transportation places a recognition sign, provides orange safety vests and litterbags, and will remove the filled bags and pay the landfill fees.  There is no cost to the volunteer except their time.  More information including safety rules is available from the ADOT Adopt a Highway web site.

Adopt-A-Highway Maintenance Provider allows a sponsor to pay a contractor to remove litter in the urban areas where more frequent removal is necessary.  The Arizona Department of Transportation has authorized four contractors to do this work.

For more information on this program contact Chester Pianka at 520. 388.4232.
