State Route 169

SR 169 Agua Fria River Bridge

Construction Alert

SR 169 – AGUA FRIA RIVER BRIDGE TRAFFIC CONTROL

Bridge demolition is occurring on State Route 169 at the Agua Fria River, just east of State Route 69.    Traffic control has been set up and will remain in place through Summer 2009. Lanes across the Agua Fria River Bridge have been narrowed to 10.5 feet, with a 1 foot shoulder.  This traffic control configuration restricts load widths to 10 feet.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will remove the existing bridge over the Agua Fria River on State Route 169 and replace it with a new bridge. Work will begin in summer 2008 on the $4.2 million project, which is scheduled for completion in fall 2009.

Half of the new bridge will be built first and traffic will be transferred to the new bridge. Then the old bridge will be demolished and the other half of the new bridge will be constructed.
