The Phoenix Construction District is responsible for the administration
of construction projects in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area.
These projects include Interstate Highway projects, State Highway
projects, Federally Funded Local Government projects, and construction
of the Maricopa
Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Freeway System.
The District participates in all phases of the planning and development
process. In cooperation with MAG, Valley
Project Management and the Phoenix
Maintenance District proposes projects for scoping and ultimate
inclusion into the 5-Year Plan. District personnel participate in
planning and design meetings and provide constructability review
of projects.
The District is funded with a $15M internal operating budget that
supports 212 full-time employees in nine Construction Field Offices,
one Landscape Construction Field Office, two Area Materials Laboratories,
an Electrical
Inspection Office, and a Survey Support Office. The District
also maintains a Valley Project Information Office, adjunct to ADOT’s
Community Relations Office, to provide project specific information
for residents and businesses potentially affected by active construction.
Numerous Construction Alerts and Corridor Status Updates are designed,
produced and distributed to keep an open communications link with
Valley residents.
